An extensive 60-day journey around the Land Down Under was terminated days after the death of an older woman who was abandoned by the ship on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the party for a rest. The ship left without her and returned several hours later after the crew realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

The CEO of the cruise operator said that guests and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "tragic passing and earlier mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he mentioned that guests would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via private aircraft".
